November 24 – 28, 2025
This week, November 24 – 28, 2025, is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week in Ontario. As part of this initiative, each school must develop a Bullying Prevention, Intervention and Response Plan. Click here to view the Alexandra Plan. This plan will also be posted on our school website for future reference.
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that Alexandra Public School is a place where every student feels safe, respected, and accepted, we have established a Safe and Accepting School Working Group. This team, comprising our principal and several dedicated staff members, is focused on utilizing data to inform, implement, and monitor school practices related to bullying prevention, our school code of conduct, and student discipline.
The group meets regularly to discuss these important topics and to develop initiatives that support a positive school climate. Some of our current projects include:
- Developing a bullying reporting protocol for staff to use when incidents occur.
- Creating a sports code of conduct to ensure all students who participate on school teams demonstrate respect and accountability.
- Organizing monthly assemblies to celebrate students who demonstrate positive behaviour and strong work habits in our six learning skill areas: responsibility, organization, independent work, collaboration, initiative, and self-regulation.
- Ensuring that bullying prevention, intervention and response in promoted in our school, highlighting the Safe@School Report reporting form
We look forward to sharing updates on the work of our committee through future editions of the school newsletter.
