Dear Parent/ Guardian;
This letter is to advise that effective November 19th, our school is planning to host a certified Therapy Dog (Buddy) and Handler from St. John’s Ambulance as support to our special education and phonetic awareness programming. The program is scheduled to run every Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM in the hallway outside of the gym (*date/time changes may occur without further notice).
A Therapy Dog is an interactive dog trained to work for a Handler to provide service and comfort to other people. Buddy is a highly trained and fully certified Therapy Dog and we are thrilled to have him in our school community working with students in grades 1-3.
The reason for the dog’s presence, how to interact with the dog, and other procedures will be shared with students as we integrate the dog into our school routine. If you have any questions or concerns about the presence of the therapy dog in our school, please do not hesitate to contact me.
