Executive Functions!

Today Mrs.McCoy, a certified “Activated Learning” instructor, presented professional development about Executive Functions for our K-5 teaching staff.

Explicitly teaching and recognizing Executive Functions for our students and parents are a core part of our School Improvement Plan for the 2019-2020 school year.

You will here terms such as “response inhibition”, “goal-directed persistence”, “sustained attention” and “barriers & strategies” over the course of the year from your students.

Information will be coming home soon about what Executive Functions (EF’s) are, why we are teaching them and how you can support at home.

In the meantime, I encourage you to contact your student’s teacher and check out http://activatedlearning.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/EF-questionnaire-for-parents-of-school-age-kids.pdf to understand more about EF’s and to try a parent questionnaire.
